Happy #IWD2019! #BalanceforBetter this 2019!

Here at Embla Home, we often talk about the importance of balance: finding it and maintaining it despite the hustle and bustle of daily life. Too much of one thing is never a good thing, so we can all agree that balance makes things better for everyone.

This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is #BalanceforBetter. Beyond the balance we hope to achieve in our personal lives, #BalanceforBetter is a movement that addresses a bigger problem in the world at large: imbalance that women experience in the world at large.

Happy #IWD2019! #BalanceforBetter this 2019!

The theme of International Women’s Day 2019 is a response to research across the board: gender-balanced businesses are more productive and profitable, gender-balanced communities are more peaceful and cohesive, and gender-balanced families are happier and more loving. Why is it, then, that there is not enough gender balance in the world today? It’s 2019 and the gender pay gap is still a thing. Of all the companies that led the Fortune 500 list in 2018, only 24 of those CEOs were women.

Gender balance is not just a women’s issue. It’s a business issue. According to the International Women’s Day website, “The race is on for the gender-balanced boardroom, a gender-balanced government, gender-balanced media coverage, a gender-balance of employees, more gender-balance in wealth, gender-balanced sports coverage.” The list goes on. This is a problem that we need to solve fast.

We at Embla Home are "hands in" and "hands out" to #BalanceforBetter this 2019! We are a small team, and we are happy to say that our start-up of 6 people is composed of 4 women of different nationalities. Together, these women make up an integral part of Embla Home’s structure life force. Together, all of us at Embla Home are “hands out” and “hands in” for women everywhere. Together, we hope we can be part of the chance and #BalanceforBetter everywhere. Happy #IWD2019!
